What makes Hogan Performance and our products different?

We are in the business of selling top quality performance exhaust products at a reasonable cost. In an effort to provide our clients with the best product possible. We have recently, put into service a Trans-fluid Mandrel exhaust tubing bender. This bender, to our knowledge, is the only Mandrel bender used for production, in the Midwest. Many ask why more shops don’t offer mandrel bending. Quite simply, it is because the equipment and tooling is extremely expensive. You may be asking yourself, “what is a Mandrel bend?” Conventional muffler shops use a press bender to bend tubing. A press bender,  as its name implies, presses the tubing in the center of the bend, which reduces the inside diameter of the tubing in the bend. A mandrel bender has a series of balls called a mandrel that are drawn through the inside of the tubing, retaining tube diameter that is consistent through out the entire length of the piece. The illustrations on the bottom of this page give you a visual depiction of the difference between press bent and mandrel bent tubing. We are sure you can see the value and  performance advantage.

Mandrel bent pipes have a consistent flow area throughout bends and straight lengths.

What makes our pipes better than the others found on the web? First of all, our flange is custom made from 3/8 steel plate and have the gasket groove machined into it just like the original equipment flange. Our pipes are mandrel bent, in house, which means each pipe is made specifically for each individual unit. This means that several bends are never cut and spliced together to form a single elbow.  Less welded joints means better strength. We can also manufacture special orders with modifications to any pipe to fit your needs, and lastly every pipe we build is 409 stainless steel.

This picture shows the difference between a stock pipe (left) and our DP series pipes (right). The original equipment measures less than 2 1/4 inches inside while our DP series are made with 3 inch tubing.
